Collective bargaining is national policy of our country - accept it or Bite me.

I am opening this thread due to another thread where I pointed out that a manager’s problems might be of his/her own making.

That thread led into discussion concerning union’s and union people.

A lot of people seem to think that unions/collective bargaining in this country is a bad thing. Well, that’s their right (However misguided their thought process’). But the law says that collective barganining is in the public interest and that the labor of a human being is not a commodity or article of commerce.

In other words, collective barganining is the national policy of this country; and if you don’t like it: Bite me.

Link?

Link what? Heard of the airline unions, the NLRB… ad infinitum

Link to the thread you’re referring to, please?

The one titled “Fuckers that work at Wendys…”

Ummm…no it didn’t. It led to you proving to everyone you’re a fucking jackass with the argumentative capabilities of an infant. Just out of curiosity, what union do you represent? The Lemonaide stand workers of America? Good to know the 6-10 year old workers of the world are getting their word in.

What law says this?

Yeah, I know! It’s SUCH a bitch when a manager actually wants his or her employees to WORK and DO THEIR JOBS like they should!

Man, that really cheeses me off.

:dubious:

Collective bargaining is in the public interest is specifically stated in 5 USC 7101 - in the opening section of this law it goes “Congress finds that collective bargaining is in the …” this is the law that authorizes federal employees to unionize.

“labor of a human being is not a commodity or article of commerce” comes from a statute passed in 1914 I believe.

I can get much more specific if necessary, but given the existance of the NLRB and all of the unions in existance in this country and the history of organized labor in this country I would be surprised if anyone disputed that this is the national policy of our nation.

So far, I count two "bite me"s in this thread. Let’s keep track, shall we?

Sorry about quoting myself - I was working on a “Bite me” and was so irritated I screwed up.

It was the second part of your claim – the “…labor of a human being is not a commodity or article of commerce…” that I questioned – so yes, I’d like a cite a bit more detailed than “a statute passed in 1914.”

If your point was merely that collective bargaining is enshrined in the US tradition and laws, then I certainly agree.

15 USC 17 -

Yes, that was my point, it is national policy (regardless of Bush’s opinion(s)

Yeah, well, labor unions suck. Only a union would force a summer-job high-school student to pay union dues.

Bite me.

Dumbfuck.

I was in that thread, and I hope you aren’t talking to me, county. I think that Labor Unions, in general, are a good thing.

Very true.

Well, glad to see we have a number of management types (tightasses) weighing in here.

What impresses me about you guys is the way you boil an issue down to the essence and provide such succinct input.

So; asterion, if you want to, Bite me.
Gawd & Gunstasia, you’ve been dealt with.
Michael Ellis, if you want to, Bite me.
Elvis, if you want to, Bite me.

I don’t think I missed anyone - I certainly hope not.

Oh yeah - it is still the law and our national policy.

Calling everyone who disagrees with you a tightass…

County, you are on your way to full membership in the One Trick Pony Chowder and Marching Society!
