College Football 2023

Bama’s in. If FSU loses, the 4th spot will be between Texas and Georgia.

If Michigan wins, then they’re likely #1. Then we have Georgia who lost to #8 (though likely moves up) Alabama, and OSU who lost to #1 ranked Michigan. So why should Georgia go before OSU?

SEC, back- to- back national championships. SEC.

Is it really true that this year was the last time undefeated Ohio St. vs. Michigan is probably a deal breaker for the college playoffs?

It makes what is already a big rivalry even more tense if playoffs are riding on it. It’s why I didn’t like that Ohio St. made it last year after losing, and badly losing, to Michigan.

We have 12 teams now going forward?

Because the SEC are the darlings of the media and the committee.

So far in the FSU-Louisville game, it looks as if Leslie Nielsen keeps coming up to FSU third-string quarterback Brock Glenn, saying “Remember son, we’re all counting on you. Just don’t try to throw it more than three yards.”

Shirley, you can’t be serious?

Sadly, Texas beating another team but getting surpassed by them in the rankings has precedent; Texas beat Oklahoma in 2008 but in the end it was Oklahoma playing in the national title game.

Despite a rather dull game, Michigan is having no real issue with Iowa. 23-0 right now in the 4th quarter.

Michigan is just a lot better and Iowa didn’t manage to keep them out of field goal range on most drives.

Crappp…Florida State up by 7

Michigan scored their two TDs after a long punt return and a questionable turnover at the 10 yard line. Otherwise, Iowa has allowed just 4 field goals. Pretty good effort, considering their offense is non-existent. 26-0 now with under 4 to play.

Yes, it’s 4 field goals and 2 touchdowns. Iowa apparently has a good defense, but not today. And their offense is nonexistent.

So is it pretty settled?

1 Washington State
2 Michigan
3 Florida State
4 Alabama

No.

For one, Washington State has zero chance of making the playoffs.

They held Michigan to just over 200 yards of offense, and Michigan had the ball for 36 minutes. Both TD drives were five yard drives. Michigan’s longest drive was 52 yards, and Michigan punted six times. I’d consider that a pretty damn good effort, but YMMV.

Washington (i.e., the University of Washington) won the Pac-12 championship yesterday, and is undefeated. Washington State is a different school.

The last playoff spot will be between Texas, Florida State and Georgia. It seems most likely to be Texas, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it was given to Georgia. I think Florida State is a long shot.

1 Michigan
2 Washington
3 Alabama

Me too! I stood in line for hours to get student Rose Bowl tickets, then took an epic road trip to L.A.

Go Blue!

Sorry, big typo. Those “State” vs “University of” getting me mixed up again.
