How the fuck does this happen???

Karma. For being the ultimate cause of the Pac 12 dissolution.
After making sure my blood pressure was kept high, ISU pulled it off. Only their second win ever when ranked in the top ten. I still wonder if they’re worth their record, but I choose optimism.
Regarding the UT/UGA game: there was a terrible DPI call against Texas which negated an interception. After the penalty was enforced, the fans showered the field with trash, mostly water bottles. It took several minutes for the field to be cleared, which was done by cheerleaders and staff personnel. During the delay, officials decided it wasn’t really a penalty, so they allowed the interception to stand.
To me, it was blatantly obvious that the officials saw the multiple replays during the delay and realized it was a bad call. Again IMO, it was beneficial for the UT fans to cause the game to be held up. Sets a really bad precedent.
Texas apologizes to Georgia, officials, SEC for fan behavior (msn.com)
I know the officiating in the Texas-Georgia game will get all the publicity, but the officiating in the Illinois-Michigan game was egregious too. The B1G refs did just about everything in their power to keep Michigan in that game with the worst example being a spot on a simple catch on the sideline that was off by a whopping 4 yards. Illinois had to burn a challenge, and because the spot itself is not challengable they had to challenge the obvious catch. By rule Illinois lost the challenge, though they eventually got the spot corrected (and they screwed up the re-spot initially by a yard).
As a Cornhusker fan who thought we turned the corner, this was one of my most painful losses. Probably recency bias, since we haven’t won anything since 2001. But this year “felt different” with Coach Rhule, our defense, and QB Raiola. All three hopes got crushed in a single game.
No disrespect to Indiana, who will make some noise this year… but I thought the days of 40-point losses left with Scott Frost.
On the bright side, Nebraska plays at Ohio State this weekend. The only reason I don’t think it will be another 56-7 is the Buckeyes will get bored.
Rutgers gets to start a game tonight at what would be 11pm back home.
This is stupid.
Last night Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord had a night he’d like to quickly forget in their game versus Pitt.
McCord threw interceptions on the first three possessions. Two were returned for touchdowns. The other led to a field goal. Then, later in the first half, he threw another pick-six. For the game, McCord threw for 321 yards, no touchdowns, five interceptions.
Bad Kyle! No Heisman for you!
So no major upsets today that I saw, but some unexpected squeakers.
A&M spotted LSU a 10-point halftime lead, then brought in the backup QB, who then engineered five consecutive scoring drives for 31 points.
I’m not a fan of the program but danged if they’re not 5-0 atop the conference standings. The showdown with Texas looms large.
I was only paying half attention, but A&M wasn’t able to do Jack until they brought that Lightning Bolt kid in after the starter got hurt.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see him start next week.
Not a fan of any team from Texas, but hate LSU and Kelly, so that was kinda pretty.
Wadda ya know? Southern Cal managed to not snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
The WSU Cougars pulled off a late comeback to win against San Diego State and finally get ranked.
My wife went to WSU and was thrilled.
IU is now 8-0 with a win over Washington.
They’re also undefeated in the conference and tied for the conference lead.
Had a dream last night that, while I was wandering about in a clothing store, I saw a TV screen that showed Ohio State leading Penn State by the score of…849-100.
By comparison, the real-life highest scoring college football game of all-time was 222-0.
And no one has scored more than, like, six points when their opponent got more than 100.
Unranked Duke leading No. 5 Miami right now by the score of 28-17.
Make it happen…
As expected, the battle between #3 Penn State and #4 Ohio State is a good one.
tOSU leads 17-13 in the third quarter. Both teams had first-half turnovers that thwarted scoring chances, and PSU has a pick-six for their only touchdown.
Fun game to watch.
And Ohio State wins 20-13. Penn State had a first and goal at the three with just under 7 minutes to play. Ohio State held them on four plays, then took over at the one with 5:13 to play. They ran 11 plays and gained 4 first downs as they ran out the clock.
