College Football Coaching Carousel - 2017-18

Now Mike Leach rumored to have been offered Tennessee job.

And thisfunny spoof of a Steve Buschemi scene

The way he’s talking now, he’s out too. And no one would blame him - the FSU job is another coach-killer with an impossible fan/booster base.

the latest is Tenn has canned their AD because of the screwed up search

I don’t think he’s going anywhere. He likes WSU and they like him. He’s the reason why that team is actually competitive now (they briefly led the Pac-12 before losing the Apple Cup). And the guy who he interviewed with got fired. I’m guessing Leach wants more money (and now has a record to earn it) and showing the school that others might want him is a good bargaining chip.

Truly disgusting what went on there. Letting mob rule happen because some students want someone like Gruden who is never going to be there. Schiano has always been a coach with integrity and there is absolutely no evidence linking him to the Sandusky crimes. He made a bad pro coach because he still had too much of a college mentality but he is a good college coach and recruiter.

Good.

Not only that, but there are rumors that Phil Fulmer was acting behind the scenes to sabotage the job search in order to get Currie fired so he could become the next AD! What a mess, I’m surprised their whole recruiting class hasn’t bailed yet.

Jimbo is out, Good Night and Thank You! Jimbo Fisher leaving FSU for Texas A&M

Doeren re-upped at NC State. Tenn goes back to blank.

You know it’s panic mode when they bring back an alum which Tenn did for the AD with Fulmer. Which also means they are likely to settle for an alum as coach whether or not that person can do the job.

Peyton’s available.

Back when Dean Smith retired and his assistant stepped down UNC wasted all kinds of time only talking to guys who played for Smith and they hired an unqualified guy who was fired in 3 years.

It turns out Smith himself told them don’t only talk to alums.

My goodness, who will go to Tennessee? Les Miles? Doubtful. Tee Martin!?! He’s only ever been a position coach until this year (OC at USC).

You’re not wrong, I’m afraid. Riley pretty much had to go after the blowouts endured this year and the loss to Northern Illinois, but NU has a quick trigger. Devaney was hung in effigy after finishing 6-4 in 1968. Husker fans called for Osborne’s head continually during the 1980s “Bridesmaid” years. If Frost comes home, it will be a lovefest until game one. Then watch out.

That said, I’d be very surprised if he’s not coaching in Lincoln next year. They seem to have accepted this in Orlando.

Yep, updated from my phone and missed that one.

How many jobs has Jim Mora been linked with?

The winners:

Jimbo Fisher, who turned getting fired into getting hired by another big school.

Florida State, who turned getting fired and having to pay for two contracts to pushing Jimbo out the door.

The loser:

Texas A&M. I know Jimbo will probably win 8, 9, and once in a while ten games, but Aggieland is bringing Jimbo in to win a title and that’s not going to happen. If he’s struggling to win championships at FSU, he’s not going to have an easier time at A&M.

None, but I still think Mora would be a good hire for the right school if he wants the job. Who would have thought Pete Carroll would have been a good hire for USC in 1999? Who would have thought he would have been a good hire for Seattle in 2010? Coaches evolve and develop. I’m not saying Mora’s a coaching god or that he’s necessarily the best hire out there. But let’s face it: UCLA was a shit program when he took it over and he made them competitive, at least some of the time. You’re going back a long way talking about how the Bruins beat Paul Hackett’s (LOL) Trojans. Hell, when the Bruins were beating the Trojans back in the 1990s, the Trojan Condom Company seriously considered suing USC for defamation and misuse of copyright. After all, their product is about fucking on Saturday nights, not getting fucked on Saturday nights.

Huh? You must not be an FSU fan. Jimbo didn’t get pushed out, his seat wasn’t even getting warm. He quit to chase more money. And not only don’t have to pay his salary, he has to pay FSU for any of his coaches that we don’t retain. Latest estimate I’ve seen is that he (TA&M) has to pay a couple million.

Rumor: Mike Norvell from Memphis to Arkansas, following today’s UM-UCF AAC title game.
