I am no fan of guns, but there was nothing in Corlett’s letter that read like an unbalanced mind making wild assertions. Frankly, if his letter were a post on the Dope it would be one of the better ones. He stuck to law and the facts. He thinks he SHOULD be allowed to carry a gun on campus, which I don’t think is a good idea for anyone, but there’s nothing in his assertions that seems the least bit wild-eyed or off-balance.

I’d say it lends a good deal of credibility to the student’s and instructor’s account of how he made a point of mentioning those guns in class in a way that made others in the room understandably nervous. Additionally, one of his class journal entries mentions how he sleeps with his gun every night, nude. I don’t care what you look like, that shit just don’t sound good.

I think women are generally more attracted to better looking men, just as men are more attracted to better looking women, but standards of beauty do vary and other factors come into play. I get by on charm mostly, myself! Well, that and a sense of humor. I’m willing to let the readers of the board look at the pics and make up their own minds on the topic.

When I read this story, I wonder if possibly the student purposely wrote “Hot For Teacher” to get this reaction. He might have been thinking:

1. Write controversial paper.
2. Teacher complains; school doles out punishment.
3. He sues, citing “freedom of speech”
4. He profits – money or automatic A in class.

If that’s not the case, I’m wondering just how did he think the teacher was going to react when seeing his paper?

Taking the facts in the complaint (thanks for the link, lawbuff) as true, this seems to have been poorly handled by the teacher and the university. It’s hard to see how the student is entitled to legal relief, though.
