Combining Shipping on Ebay when Buy It Now is Used

Is there any way for sellers to combine shipping when Buy It Now Is used?

The problem is Buy It Now **forces **the buyer to pay to finalize the transaction. I’ve tried contacting the seller afterward to combine shipping and they complain because Ebay and Paypal has already taken their cut. They can’t discount shipping very much. Not to mention that nobody likes refunding money they already got tucked away in their pocket.

With auction items this isn’t a problem. Sellers combine shipping all the time on small items like music cd’s, records, dvd’s etc.

This is one of the reasons I dislike Buy It Now. Shipping is one of my biggest expenses. A $6 music cd ships for $3.50. that’s over 50% of the cost of the item. The seller can put 4 or 5 cd’s in the same box for practically no extra cost.

Ask the seller before you “buy it now”.

There’s something the seller can do that will combine shipping with Buy It Now? I know it’s possible to enter a couple items in the Cart before checking out. If it’s possible to combine shipping then that would be great.

Select “add to cart” for both items. Then checkout. Why do you need to use “buy it now”? It’s exactly the same as adding to cart and then checking out.

Also, the seller may be conducive if you send them an email or message. You’ll have better luck with smaller sellers.

Adding to cart and checking out doesn’t always combine shipping for multiple items from the same seller. Sometimes it does and sometimes not. You have to look very closely at the shipping costs and total before proceeding with the Paypal payment.

I gather that’s up to the seller and how he/she setup their listings. Not all sellers know the ins and outs of Ebay.

That is true. For some items, there’s no discount for shipping even on the seller’s end, and for other items, the seller is too lazy. You should contact the seller if you want a discount.

The ability to combine shipping is something the seller has to set up on their end when they make a listing. If they haven’t done it, then there’s no way for a buyer to force it.
