Comcast: Anyone else lose their cable?

I came in from the store and decided I didn’t want to watch TCM. I switched over to IFC. No Country For Old Men was on. Then it froze. Now, the cable freezes on some channels fairly frequently. But this was going on too long. Switched back to TCM. I saw a message saying the channel was unavailable. I tried rebooting the box, since that’s what Comcast always says to do. I seem to have channels 2 through 29 available.

I tried calling Comcast, and got a busy signal. I looked online, and they posted ‘Outage detected’. (It also says my Internet is down. I hope not, or else I’m hallucinating starting this thread!) I opened a chat window to ask a tech what’s going on. An hour and a half ago. First it said I was number 657 (or something like that) in the queue. Then a chat window opened that said ‘Waiting for analyst…’ Then it switches to ‘Chat server unavailable. Please wait.’ Tried the phone a few more times. The good news is there’s no busy signal. The bad news is I get the ‘All circuits are busy’ message.

This leads me to suspect this is not a local outage. Anyone else having trouble with Comcast?

ETA: I see this on their website:

An outage has been reported in your area. We expect this to be resolved by 11:25 PM today.

11:25 PM, what? Eastern time? Pacific time? GMT (which would mean tomorrow)?

.

Comcast has been shitting the bed here today.

Apparently there’s some sort of boxing match on tonight.

I can’t imagine there’s enough people who watch boxing to take down a cable provider.

Some of my FB friends are saying Charter is also out, at least in the St. Louis area.

Comcast went out for me about 2 hours ago but rebooting solved the problem.

Nope. Just rebooted again, and I still only have 2-29.

I saw this posted at the QHL Q6 message board:

And:

I asked in The Game Room how long these things go on. I was told 12 rounds @ 3 minutes/round. So I figure with stoppages, that should be about an hour. But I’ve just noticed, looking at fight times, the hijack was scheduled to start at 6 PDT and the fight wouldn’t start until two hours later. That puts the end of the fight… just about now.

Nope. Still down.

What? No, the fight just started, I think.

Okay, NOW it’s over.
