That is what the World Cup is all about: A world championship chess match played by world-class teams. A truly memorable tactical battle brim full of passion and commitment.
Above all, IMHO, there’s little between the teams themselves but, this time – at least for 60 minutes – an England manager outwitted a contemporary. And that’s why I’m pleased for the players more than anything else. Today, at least, they had a system and tactics that did their abilities justice – and that been happening about once every five years.
