Comedian/Actor John Pinette RIP

Comedian/Actor John Pinette has died.

Ah fuck. Why do the good ones die too soon?

He was (still is) one of my all time favorite comedians. I will miss him.

MSG poisoning?

He was a good one. RIP John. :frowning:

He got out of the line.

RIP.

A genuine shocker. At least we got to see him live a few years ago.

He go now.

Had to look him up.
He was a decent comedian.
Sorry for his family’s loss.

This sucks. He was hilarious.

Man, that’s a surprise. Only 50? I say, “Nay, nay!”

I saw him live about 14 years ago at a trade show (opening for Lyle Lovett); I’d never heard of him before, but he was terrific. I later showed my wife his HBO special and she liked him, too. He also played Edna Turnblad in Hairspray on Broadway (as a replacement).

I love his bit about the all you can eat Chinese buffet. The little owner shaking his fist is hilarious.

What a fun guy.

Well shit, I really liked him. I agree, his Chinese Buffet bit was funny as hell. “You been here four hour, you go home now!!!”

This is so sad. My husband and I love his comedy specials and we were excited to see he was scheduled to perform in Providence next month. We started talking yesterday about buying tickets to see him and now we won’t ever get the chance. :frowning:

John Pinette dead? I say nay nay. :frowning:

What a shame.

“They don’t charge you for the salad, because it ain’t worth anything. Salad is a promissory note that food will soon arrive.”

I remember him from waaaay back. Ok, as far back in the 90s. They used to have stand-up on broadcast TV in prime time and I always watched with my parents. I think we first saw a lot of people then, like Jerry Seinfeld and Paula Poundstone and maybe Ellen Deneres, and of course John Pinette was always a favorite.

I’ve always found his stuff funny and I was happy when I’d see him pop up from time to time. I’d heard he made a comeback recently and that was cool.

Shame indeed :frowning:

One of the few comedians I’ve seen live. He totally killed it, and every time I have seen him since on TV he also killed it. He was one of the best ones out there, IMHO.

Really sad - I remember seeing him on an MTV comedy special in the 90s, doing the chipmunk voices over popular songs, and of course the buffet routine.

Heaven’s Chinese buffet just got a great customer… RIP John.

I first heard him a couple of years ago when I created a comedy channel on Pandora. I think he was my favorite comedian among those I heard on Pandora. RIP.

Oh man, that Chinese buffet bit is classic.

I also remember him from the Seinfeld finale, as the guy getting mugged while they all stand there and watch. Hmmm… first James Rebhorn and now John Pinette. Who’s going to be next?
