Comfy Heels? Do they exist?

Just my WAG: the rounded toe and solid, well-balanced-looking heel might be part of the magic, and it looks like the sole is thick enough to maybe have some decent padding. I think they’re cute. ::jealous::

I have those and they just wore on the balls of my feet poorly. They didn’t pinch, but they didn’t have the padding I needed and they didn’t have the room necessary to add a pad.

I bought this pairyesterday and I hope they work out well. The heel is a bit lower and there’s a little more room in the toe bed. They were the only pair in 10 wide in all of Green Bay and Appleton… it’s crazy. All the shoes big enough for me were all loafer styles. UG-LY! Can’t wear that with a mid-length dress!

Feather soft. Heels by Crocs

I’m so glad you’re thinking about this. I’ve seen so many people make themselves miserable especially at their own weddings by buying uncomfortable shoes. The happiest bride I’ve ever seen was one who wore satin ballet shoes under her dress!

Congrats and God Bless!

hey, we are the same shoe size. yeah, it’s limits what you can buy. FWIW I’ve had some luck and discount-type places – DSW, outlet malls, etc. I actually just got a pair of 10W strappy sandals on Saturday at Burlington Coat Factory. Kohl’s has also started to sell wides recently.

Also slightly off topic, but I spend 5 winters in NYC, IMHO pants and nice loafer-style shoes (with or without a heel) is a perfectly acceptable outfit in January for an evening of dinner, theater, and drinks.

Mutant feet are simply an excuse to go to Vegas and visit Leonards - purveyor of shoes for women with unusually wide feet and men who like to wear high heels.

I saw Oprah going on about these, though I haven’t tried them yet:

They sound like a good “next pair of heels” for me.

I have wide (D) feet and a high instep. I’ve had good luck with shoes from J. Reneé. They are still heels, I wouldn’t recommend them for a day at the museum and then out dancing. I have worn them for a wedding and made it through the reception in tact. I’ve probably had 3 different pairs.

Oh those are darling! I’m a huge fan of that character shoe look, and have found them, over the years, to usually fulfill all the criteria I listed above about construction and design, especially WRT heel balance/center of gravity.

I’ll be very curious to hear how you like them (or don’t) especially given they’re man-made and not leather; I know how leather works, I understand how it changes over time, but man-made shoe materials seem like such a crap-shoot. Some stretch, some don’t, some wear well, some don’t, etc. etc.

I’ve always wondered - are the very expensive designer heels (the SATC type) - are they any more comfortable than lesser shoes?

Do you regularly wear heels? It sounds like you don’t. The best way to get comfortable heels is to be comfortable in heels. That can only be achieved by practicing religiously. I would recommend getting a pair of heels that feel comfortable in the store and wearing them for some period of time every day. By January, you should be all set.

Also, get to know your local cobbler. Everyone has differently shaped feet and they can stretch out your shoes in the places where you need it (this can also take a $30 dollar shoe to $200 comfort…).

I’m still looking for shoes for my actual wedding day. I can’t seem to find comfortable white ones anywhere. Ballet flats sound like a good idea, but there’s no cushion or arch support at all in them. I wore those for my brother’s wedding and my whole lower body and back hurt.

My dress is long enough, I might just get a pair of all white sneakers to wear for the day… I’d rather not, but as far as wide and white… well, that’s a chore.

Try zappos.com. You can search for shoes in your width, and they have a very liberal return policy. They are very very good customer service wise.
