I’m looking to buy a back-issue of an old comic book from the week of my father’s birthday (24 Sept 1959), who is turning 50. I can’t seem to figure out how to google a list of back-issues with dates. but I want to find out the title/issue number so I can look for a copy on eBay or similar. I’m looking for Superman, Captain America, Green Lantern, Batman, or other classic superheroes, and the copy would not have to be in collectible condition as I’m not able to spend too much. Can anyone please point me to a list of issues with dates for any old comic books?
There is a comic price guide online at http://www.comicspriceguide.com/ (registration requires)
Remember, the date on a comic is usually several months after it’s released.

The database I used is user-defined (www.comicbookdb.com), so I can’t actually vouch for the accuracy, but it should be okay. Good luck with your search, and a great idea for your dad!
Thank you both and especially Dante!!! I will see which of these are available right away.
I’m probably stating something you already know. But, just in case
Detective Comics = Batman
Action = Superman
World’s Finest =Superman and Batman
Also, I don’t think there was any Captain America comics at that point. I am pretty sure it is before he was brought back.
What an awesome gift idea! Good luck finding them cheap. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out how cheap the books can be when it’s less than perfect condition.
