You test your reflexes against Oswald!
You shoot the magic bullet!
Give me s frigging break.
Is there nothing people won’t try to make money on??
Let’s hope the Kennedy family sues the hell out of this guy.

Yes. Let’s hope.
This is absolutely disgusting.
What’s next, a simulation of Auschwitz where you play Josef Mengele?
prez63: wtf! wallhack!
daveep: haha newb!
I think this is wonderfully tasteless and funny. I might even buy it.
I suppose you could always imagine it’s THIS STATEMENT CENSORED BY SS.
Then…um… don’t buy it.
I thought it was pretty sick, but if you download the demo, it’s pretty interesting NOT to shoot, and just let the car go around the bend, and imagine.
Just like the board game Scott Free! (Bonus points if someone gets the reference)
I can not buy it and still have an opinion about it.
You know, whatever floats your boat. But if it were a game showing and speculating about the death of my father, sibling, or other close family member, I’d be pretty pissed. I suspect that the Kennedy family is too. I hope they sue.
So, this applies to people who have actually died? I mean, do the creators of Team America get pitted because they kill off celebrities and politicians who are technically still alive?
I haven’t seen Team America, so I can’t say for sure how they handled these celebrity deaths.
However, I think there’s a big difference between making some lame yuk-yuk joke about someone who is still alive and well, and making money speculating about and exploiting the tragic death of someone.
But if you can’t see the distinction, hey, that’s okay.
So you feel the same about innumerable books and movies that have profited from the same subject matter? How is this different?
Reeder, on what grounds would you base such a lawsuit? Tackiness? Please.
Distinction clear. However, take South Park’s first Christmas episode, with Jimmy Stewart burning in hell… Equally inappropriate to the website.
Obviously not.
If people sued other people for poor judgement and taste, the courts would have to be open 24/7/365.
I think it’s the interactive aspect that makes it a lot different.
From the CNN article linked above:
So the player “shoots” at the Kennedy motorcade, and get points awarded, depending on how accurately they shoot at Kennedy.
It think there’s a big difference between that and some historical document or article writing about Kennedy. Though some of them were probably pretty tawdry too.
As we can see, JFK’s brother isn’t too thrilled about it:
Yeah. I’m with him there. I think he has a unique perspective on this, that you (nor I) cannot possibly have. It’s his brother, after all, that people are attempting to (virtually) shoot. They earn extra points if they can accurately (virtually) shoot his brother. I understand that it’s being done in some supposedly historical context, but come on. People are (virtually) shooting at his brother. Yikes.
Haven’t seen it, can’t comment on it with any knowledge.
However, it sounds tacky. But it is not an interactive game. It’s also fiction (Jimmy Stewart burning in Hell—we don’t know that). It’s just tacky bullshit, that probably did not thrill Stewart’s family. But at least it wasn’t an interactive game that gave people extra points for causing his death, or something.
IMHO, the replay factor on this is going to be somewhat low. (Bang! “You win the game!” Uh… ok.)
Do they have a multiplayer version?
I just heard on the radio Teddy’s spokesman said it was disgusting, but the family won’t try to block the release. Presumedly, this includes no lawsuits. I don’t see how a lawsuit to defend a guy dead for 40 years would stand up in court. Is there a precedent or something?
Eh, what are you going to do, legislate?
Let capitalism work this one out.
Agreed. If only the FCC and the Government would let everything else work that way.
