Command and Control

Did anyone see this doc on PBS? I guess it aired in January but was shown again last night. Pretty scary stuff. When the Air Force won’t tell the VP of the U.S. whether or not there was a nuke involved in a missile silo “incident” I think there might be a problem. Not to mention what the people at the top of the weapons program (at the time) had to say. Highly recommended viewing.

Very good documentary. Typical military actions - deny any problem and make decisions at highest possible level that has no idea of how to handle the nitty gritty of the situation. Then when all is said and done, shoot the survivors. (Some poetic license taken there)

Very chilling to watch knowing what was probably going to happen. One thing though. I worked on Centaur rockets with the same type of scaffolding and we tethered everything we could so it couldn’t fall. Especially an 8 lb socket. And we were not working on live missiles, just mock-ups.
