Commie Queers

I’ve never seen much on how gay people are considered outside of western societies. What’s the status of homosexual rights in China? How do the Chinese deal with gay Chinese culturally and politically? Are they oppressed or let alone?

Apparently things are getting better, according to this link.

Under the headline “Growing tolerance towards homosexuals in China” the article begins:

"A recent survey reveals that male homosexuals in China have exceeded 5 million. It’s the first official statistics in China concerning the gay people.

Experts say the release of the figures indicates that China is now developing a more objective and tolerant attitude towards homosexuality. CRI reporter Xiaoyu has the story. "

This page shows what life was like a few years ago.

Tongzhi is the Chinese equivalent of Commrade and it means Same-Thought IIRC. It is also the word equivalent of “gay” in certain circles.

Communist propaganda used to assert that homosexuality was one of the results of decadent Western capitalism. So, by definition, there were no homosexuals in communist nations.
