I was foolish enough to say I would help coach my friends baseball team, they are 16-17 year olds.
We had our first indoor batting practice today. I am ready to die. I forgot how teenagers are like Gumby.
They were not even breaking a sweat and I kept looking at the clock and wondering why only 30 seconds had passed when it felt like at least two minutes.
Did I mention that I took a hour nap on the couch after practice?
If you need any tips for coaching, let me know - my husband has coached that age in baseball for decades now.
Thanks featherlou I simply was not ready for the constant motion. My friend, who is the head coach, works in concrete. I sit on my ass troubleshooting computer problems.
Any advice would be very welcome from your husband. I admit that I’m not in the best of shape, which became obvious this morning. Damn teenagers
He has new coaches every year (fathers of kids on the teams). I’ll have to ask him what he does with his newbies.
I know he has one coach on the team with a son on the team, I haven’t met him yet. I have been friends with the head coach since grade school. But we lost touch because of my marriage and just family issues on both sides.
This is basically two old friends getting back together after nearly ten years. I’m sure other people here on the dope can relate to this. I just think that I may have let him down pitching batting practice for the first time in ages. His son was being funny about it ( come on gravity! at least pitch grandma speed )
My arm hurts and I need some ice on it…
