C64 remixes for Winamp: http://www.slayradio.org/home.php
The best joystick I ever used with the C64 was probably the most un-ergonomic one ever. It had a black square base with a big red button on the top left corner, a thin metal neck, and a big red ball on top that had a white button in the centre. Your hands always smelled like coins after using it, but it had great accuracy. Damned if I can remember the manufacturer.
Was the base topped with a big silver sticker with black and orange arrows pointing in eight directions?
Re Yie Ar Kung Fu
Did anybody ever beat this game? I could never beat Blue, the final opponent who had all the same moves you did.
The best joystick I ever used for Atari, Commodore, and my Amiga was the Suncom Tac-2 joystick. Solid as a rock, I think it’s still in good shape, just packed away somewhere. Here’s a link to some pics of different sticks. Bottom right corner.
I’m pretty sure I did, although I guess I can’t remember for sure. My strategy was always the cheap-ass jump kick, bouncing from one end of the screen to the other. It was tough to score a hit on someone doing that, and IIRC Blue usually played a little more fairly after one or two jumps. I thought Pole was the toughest to beat, because of the aforementioned one-hit rule.

Cliffy Thanks for the link. The Epyxx 500XJ is the stick Smack Fu and I were talking about.
If memory serves, the stick Amazon Floozy Goddess is thinking of was made by the same company that made the TAC-2 and with many of the same parts.
The official Commodore joystick wasn’t a quality piece of equipment. But it had a unique look. The shaft was triangular in cross section. The base was rectangular instead of square. Instead of a small, round button, it had a very long eliptical one.
