My daughter and I have decided to create a new religion. It will be complete with Holidays and stuff, which is her sole reason for wanting to have a religion.
We don’t know whether we should call it Common Sensians or Reasonarians.
The pro for Common Sensians is that I like how it sounds. Sounds cool to me.
The con is, I googled it and I see at least one use of it, though it isn’t in any religious context.
The pro for Reasonarians is, I googled it and don’t see it.
The con is, It sounds like something to do with the Aryan Nation.
Any other ideas on what we can name our religion? I’m popping my polling cherry on this, so don’t let me down, dopers.
Reasonarian, but pronounced like “car”, not “air”. You can’t have a two-word religion. That goes for you, too, Jehova’s Witnesses. Why do you think we just call them just “Catholics”?
Reasonarian. It reminds me of Rosicrucian, which reminds me of old magazines from the 50s where I could have sent in 50 cents or something to learn all about it. I never did, but now with the Internet I can find out for free!
The name of the religion, in my humble opinion, should probably end in an -ism, or an -ity, or something like that, with the -ian for the members. That said, reasonarian sounds far better.
Also, be sure to add Festivus to your mid-winter calendar.
RadicalPi, I think I set it up wrong. I actually meant to ask if the members of my religion should be called Common Sensians or Reasonarians. Which means, that I guess my religion will be Reasonarianism.
Heffalump and Roo, another thread has given me a great idea for holiday celebrations. There’s a thread about how superstitious people are; I’m thinking we can make a party of breaking all sorts of superstitions. We can dance under ladders and smash mirrors. And of course there will be lots of chocolate and presents, because, hey, isn’t that what the holidays should really be about? Getting stuff.
