I felt like an idiot for a while. I was trying to figure out why evil Abed was trying to cut off Jeff’s arm until it dawned on me that Jeff in the dark timeline has one arm. And yeah, I think Abed mentioned that to Britta but he was talking so fast I think I missed it.

And I thought that Evil Abed’s plan was to get his study group into the good timeline to undo the damage caused in the dark one. How would making the good timeline into a copy of the dark timeline accomplish this?

“When the world gets bad enough, the good go crazy, but the smart, they go bad!”

Evil Abed’s intent is to make the real timeline dark I believe.

Sure enough, someone on reddit went to the trouble: Hilda’s Menus

StarBURNSHis name is Alex!

Loved all three episodes, but especially the video game one. Somewhere, someone has to be working on turning that into a real game. They just HAVE to. TROY AND ABED BREATHING FIRE!

Fake Dean was listed as Faux-by (Faux Moby) in the credits, lol

I like how Troy was so annoyed by how weird the AC school was. “NO! TAKE HIM TO THE POLICE!”

and is swarming with jive turkeys.

A guest spot for the next season?

Awesome!

What an amazing late season surge this year. All three episodes were great, as per usual lately.

The video game episode was my favorite of the three.

A lot of the levels looked vaguely familiar to me. One of them was definitely from the Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom NES game. Another might have been a Metroid level? Any others cribbed from real games?

The dungeon struck me as very Super Mario-esque, though of course it wasn’t from the actual game. And the outdoor progression area (where they went to the “Lazy Valley” and “Gay Island” was quite obviously patterned after Super Mario World.

The video game episode was one of my favorites of the whole series.

Dan Harmon has been forced out as showrunner.

Expect a continued mass exodus of the most important producers and writers along with the creator now being gone.

I knew it was too good to be true, shows with ratings this low just don’t get to keep doing whatever they want.

I don’t get this. It’s a scripted show, not “watching someone” play video games. The game sequences were loaded with jokes and forwarded the plot and theme. This would be like complaining that you already work all day so you don’t want to watch The Office.

Yikes! Well at least the first three seasons were pretty darn good while they lasted.

They all looked vaguely Mario-inspired but I didn’t see anything too familiar. The 8-bit Jeff Winger jump animation was almost exactly out of Megaman.

Well I don’t watch The Office. But that’s unrelated. I just found it tedious to watch the video game activity. It was easier to just listen to the dialog. That’s just my opinion, I’m not passing judgement on the episode.

Here’s a great look at most of the known video game references in the episode.

I have never seen or played any of those games. In fact I’ve not even heard of most of them.

Dan responds.

Really? It’s mostly things like Mario, Zelda, Maga Man, and Minecraft. That’s about as mainstream as you can get.

Those I’ve heard of, but don’t actually know. The others mentioned, some of which may be spinoffs and sequels to the aforementioned I imagine, I’ve not heard of at all.
