Community 5/17 - 3 episodes

In the last episode, Jeff is surprised to learn Alan (Rob Corddry) has taken over the law firm from the founder, Ted (Drew Carey). I find it a sort of interesting parallel that show creator Harmon is also getting replaced.

Sampiro, please don’t spoiler other shows without clearly noted spoiler tags. I haven’t seen that episode of Breaking Bad and have been trying to avoid the spoilers.

Get over yourself. It’s been months since that episode aired, and gallons of ink have been spilled writing about it. Just because one precious snowflake hasn’t seen it is no reason for everyone else to tiptoe around.
Rosebud was a sled.

So everyone should expect to have spoilers for completely unrelated shows during every thread without any sort of warning or consideration at any time, or they’re a special snowflake? What is it that you think the purpose of a spoiler box is?

No one should reasonably expect to come to a Community thread and have Breaking Bad spoiled for them. Maybe they watch the series on DVD and the season 4 DVDs haven’t come out yet. The initial spoiler was wrong, but your attitude is the real jerkish behavior.

You’ve had since October of last year, snowflake.

Pretty much irrelevant, unless something is so ingrained into the public conciousness that it isn’t really a spoiler anymore. People should not expect spoilers for one show, especially one as recent as a few months ago, to be blatantly dropped into a completely unrelated thread with no warning. “LOL HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY EXPECT BREAKING BAD NOT TO BE SPOILED IN A COMMUNITY THREAD YOU LITTLE SNOWFLAKE!??!” is a stupid and jerkish attitude towards it too.

What’s your preferred timeframe before open discussion and mention plot points for popular entertainment? I ask, because that way we can just have everyone on the internet jot it down, so if you’re in the discussion, the world will calibrate to your personal perception of what is reasonable.

In the age of time shifted viewing spoiler tags should be standard for at least a year (until the DVDs have come out and anyone not on board is just biding their time anyway). I mean seriously, I watch a lot of HBO/Showtime shows, channels which I don’t have. I don’t torrent so my only choice is to pretty much be a year behind on these key spoilerific shows. Does that make me a snowflake too?

Hugo ends up as the Island’s protector.

Ok but that show ended years ago, has long been available on DVD, and can be streamed in a few places. I’m not even talking about shows like Glee or Community where the episode is posted for free streaming online the next day.

I use to think that Lost would turn out like Battle Royale, with everyone being killed off. And after the first episode I thought Hugo would end up being the survivor. hahaha, I was half right I guess.

You know what’s way more annoying than being spoiled for Breaking Bad in a Community thread? Reading yet another fucking trainwreck bitchflip tardfight about spoiler policy in a Community thread.

Yep. Pull up your big boy pants and accept the fact that once it’s been available for viewing for more than a week or so, people are going to talk about it.

Right, because it totally adds to the discussion in a community thread to casually and completely unnecesarily reveal a spoiler to the comment “the actor looks like he’s aged since his last role”. The spoiler wasn’t even necesary to make the comment he wanted to make. People shouldn’t drop spoilers in threads of unrelated shows for no reason. If they’re relevant to the actual point they want to make, they could always use a spoiler box. Discussions shouldn’t be minefields of random, completely unnecesary, completely unrelated spoilers from different works. What did saying what he said add to this discussion?

Are you sure you want that answered? If yes, click the spoiler below.

Yes.

I cracked up with the video game episode. I died when I saw the skeleton behind Abed.

You know what? I’ve never seen Breaking Bad. I intend to see Breaking Bad some day, but I’ll get around to it when I get around to it. In the interim, I accept that it’s been on the air for a number of years, and so I may, in my wandering of worlds both real and virtual, be exposed to spoilers.

“This is a thread for GoT season two. Please no spoilers from either the books or unaired episodes” is a reasonable and enforceable policy.

“This is the internet. Please no spoilers for anything that anyone may not have seen yet but it’s on their list of things to do before they die.” is not.

By the way, I really liked those last three episodes of Community.

…this just isn’t an American board only, you know. At one stage we were two year behind in showing Fringe and several years in showing shows like The Wire. Our local station is currently broadcasting series two of Community but I’m not going to complain about reading spoilers in a thread about Community because…this thread is about Community. If your going to talk about Breaking Bad: then either do it in the Breaking Bad thread or throw a spoiler box around it.

This thread is about a TV SHOW which has actors who have been in other works. Their performances in the show at hand will be compared and contrasted with their performances in past shows. If you want to enjoy all your media in a complete vacuum of outside influence, stay off of places on the internet that talk about media. Otherwise, prepare yourself for the odd spoiler.

Rable Rable Rable!! Vs. Rable Rable Rable!!

…from the forum rules:

“common sense and courtesy”: people reading the thread aren’t expecting spoilers of other programmes; it would be courteous as well in the spirit of the forum rules to use a spoiler box: and there is absolutely nothing wrong with The Controvert writing a single sentence to point that out.

Yeah, this is the internet, and the show prominantly features Annie’s Boobs: and the internet is full of Boobs, but that doesn’t mean that posting pictures of Boobs in this thread would be a courteous thing to do. Thats just common sense.
