"Community" (new NBC show)

Favorite lines:

“Ladies and gentlemen, Green Deaye!”

and

“Didn’t we already have Green in the name?”
“Make 5,000 more copies! We’re trying to save the planet don’t ask questions!”

My prediction for stunt casting ahead: Jeff’s mom will come to visit and fall for Pierce and she’ll be played by Goldie Hawn. (This is prediction, not an announcement.)

I really find myself identifying with…Senor Chang. I have to admit, I recognize the thrill he must have felt when he announced the 20 page paper was 30% of their grade.

I’ll see your Goldie Hawn and raise you Kim Basinger.

You’re both wrong. Beverly D’Angelo or Geena Davis would be perfect.

Hmmm. D’Angelo… that would be perfect*. Of course with 7 former Mrs. Pierce’s they could all come on at some point.

I also have the notion of a “JEFF… I AM YOUR FATHER” moment.

*A pity Randy Quaid is too effed up these days (most recently the hotel bill thing) because he and Chase always had great chemistry.

It was good to see Starburns back in action…

“You know what happens when you lock your knees? You die.”

In the promo for this weeks ep, there’s a character called “Aphasia.” Hilarious, yet totally believable as the kind of name a semi-literate parent would pick because it sounds pretty.

All right, then, if we’re going for seven Mrs. Pierces, Christie Brinkley.

Miley Cyrus. You know that at least one of the seven has to be an absurd trophy wife.

Zagloba, did you mean to post to the Glee thread, or do they have the same joke this week? I think I’d be a little disappointed if they both used an Aphasia joke in the same week.

Oops. I mean to post to this thread, but I thought it was the Glee thread!

Pierce is clearly in the marriage-for-a-green-card business. That’s why he hangs out at Greendale. Lot’s of women on student visas. Ex-wives might include Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek. Maybe Abed has a relative that needs a green card and Pierce can end up as his uncle.

Where is Professor Short Skirt? I thought she was going to appear in more episodes.

This show is really hitting a stride. I think as it gets more comfortable with its essential stylized unrealism it’s becoming more its own thing, and I like it. It’s jam packed with interesting and funny stuff, it reminds me of 30 rock.

somebody catch who was calling on mchale’s phone while he was making out? was it Britta?

It said “what base, wingman?” It was clearly Pierce trying to get an update.

“That guy can’t be gay, he’s got a mustache”

Also, Annie is still the hottest “girl next door” in the world…

I think I saw the ancient art of Gymkata during the fight scene.

That was a good episode, although I think Shirley’s Christian zeal was overdone.

I liked how Britta kept making fighting a gay thing.

Great episode last night, maybe my favorite of the season. Loved seeing Anthony Michael Hall as the “must be gay” bully.
