I rarely laugh out loud while watching television alone, but I was laughing loud and hard as soon as Abed swooped in.
Mindless pedantry:
Wasn’t it actually an Eddie Murphy “Delirious” costume?
Pretty sure the first line is “in your blood” and the third line is “in your soul”, with no “in your spirit”.
Right – “Raw” was the purple leather suit.
Just wanted to chime in and heap praise on the show as well. Did love all the Mexican Halloween references and Senior Chang saying it was offensive to those who knew the sexual position, followed by Troy and Jeff nodding as Abed noted it. Which was quickly followed by Pierce not knowing how to use his phone and ended up calling his mother, LOL!
I am in the minority here and thought that this one was only OK. I thought most of the jokes were telegraphed and am surprised that I’m the only one who didn’t *expect *Abed to save the guys from the desk fort. I laughed a couple of times, but not often.
I have been catching up on the show via PrimeTime OnDemand. I think the show is really good.
Things I LOL’d at:
*Football practice - the dwarf in the background. The linesmen running into that rolling padded thing and not moving it an inch. “Tell me that linesman isn’t a pregnant woman.”
*Carpe diem - the professor climbing the tree at the end
*Britta’s ethics hearing constantly being interrupted by the senior citizens using the facilities
*"*Correspondence schools *make jokes about us!"
*I hate when women use Halloween as an excuse to dress like sluts."
I also am enjoying Community. I think the writing is great. I’m not a big Joel McHale fan, but he works well in this context. I can’t wait to see what other guest stars they bring in as instructors.
My favorite line (although I thought the scene it’s from was less than stellar): “Houston, we have an idiot!”
I just want to add my (shallow) 2 cents and say that not only is this the funniest show on TV, with the addition of the new (stunning) female professor character, Community now officially has the most attractive female cast I can think of.
I loved Troy reporting that Pierce was “tripping balls,” as well as the graphic representation of the trip.
“Mexican Halloween,” hee hee. Also, Senor Chang’s pickup technique, and strange but hilarious alternation between self-deprecation and Jeff-deprecation. (BTW, Ken Leong is an MD who went to Duke and UNC - cool!)
I’m a little sad though, because I must be getting old - I recognized Pierce as the Beastmaster right away.
Amen. I would like to be the first to comment on the excellent decision to put Annie in a spandex body suit as well.
BTW, be careful searching for Mexican Halloween on Google (or other search engines I would imagine), especially if you’re using IE. The search results were highly malware-infested for some reason. I never did find out what the hell it meant.
I believe they just made up that term to be funny.
Yeah, well… I won’t hold that against him.
Tights really accentuates his “I have the body of a fifth grader” claim.
I love the faculty quotes on the “official” homepage of Greendale Community College. For example, Dr. Slater (the hot-tish stats professor) blip:
Of course John Oliver’s character has the funniest but I’ll let you explore.
Pierce Hawthorne’s (Chevy Chase) favorite movie: Fletch.
You know, I’ve watched the Halloween episode 3 times now and still haven’t deleted it from my DVR.
It’s the little things, like Abed’s speech at the end finishing with him putting lip balm on. Or Britta claiming she’s not jealous of the Stat prof. but breaking the trophy.
It’s been given the 22 episode go ahead and is in the 8:00 slot. This show just might make it.
Are you really Batman? There’s something I’ve always wanted to ask you… Am I attractive?"
Does anyone remember the names of the various pills that Starburns was asking Pierce about in the bathroom?
Guatemalan Screamers?
Yellow-speckled Demons?
Pierce says he has “The usual cool stuff; 'ludes, uh, Dreamers, Johnny Boys.”
