During an ongoing renovation at my home, a couple of the workers threw out some heavy-duty steel angle irons, steel rods (3/4" thick), and 3/4" re-bar.
I warned the trash guys about it, wondering aloud if these thick steel bars would punch a hole through their truck or destroy the trash compactor itself when they activated it. The guys chuckled, activated the compactor, and it made short work of even the thickest steel rods. Amazing.
What kind of hydraulic power are we talking about here? (Not that foot pounds means much to me.)
