I was searching for good deals on memory (since I live all the way in Alaska, everything to order is expensive) when I called some guy asking him if that type of memory was for me (i need a PC100) and he said it’s different for Compaq Presarios. So i searched on the site’s on-line Memory Configurator and it gave me two choices of Compaq Presarios. The first one being Presario 5000CA, the second 5000US. I bought mine up here in Alaska at Sears. The one with CA said it’s original OS is 98/ME (I have 98) The US one read as Me. Then the US one also read as having 700 Mhz. And the CA having 700 Mhz. I’m guessing my computer is the California one, but I’m stil confused. How do I know how much mhz of CPU I have? (is it something that stays the same or changes?) And now this guy said I need to get a brand new BIOS! On the website, it said my computer is compatible with their 512 MB sticks. So I said, “MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!” Could someone please clear up this baffling mystery? (as it seems to me) Thank You.
im sorry.for the US 5000 Presario, its actually 750 Mhz.
