So I’ve been given some funds to purchase more soft goods for the hotel and have dutifully provided quotes from our suppliers, but now my boss needs a report on the relative quality of their offerings. Any objective place I can go (virtually) to get good, hopefully objective analysis?
Specifically we’re comparing Connoisseur T300 sheets against Cotton Bay Ashby (sheets)
and
Dell’ Arte/Villa di Lusso from Sysco/Guest Supply against HD Supply’s Hospitality brand (bath/hand towels and washcloths)
If your vendors won’t send you free samples, you might need to buy a set of each. Send the bedsheets through multiple wash/dry/iron cycles (even multiple times a day) to see how each would wear over time. Give the sheets to the housekeepers and ask them to try making a bed with each. Is one set of sheets noticeable easier to get onto the bed? Or does one set of sheets look better on the bed? Also, how comfortable are the sheets to sleep under?
Very good advice, and thanks for it. But, boss wants to place order in a couple days. No time for ordering samples, much less stress testing. I was hoping for some site that made comparisons or gave reviews on the products. Haven’t had much luck yet. May end up buying the cheap stuff this time and seeing how it wears.
Not my experience at all. While I agree most are scratchier than even my own cheap old ratty towels, I’ve definitely had surprisingly soft ones. I’ve never checked the labels though and cannot help the OP.
Ask for references. Yes, the references will be asked to shill for the company but you will be one of very few if not the first to do this. Have a set script of questions to ask, compare and contrast answers, value company, salesman, price, quality or product, hope several are determining factors.
I don’t know that you’re going to find online head to head comparisons with those SPECIFIC brands. Sleep Like The Dead is a good resource for mattress/bedding comparisons though.
