Computer Desktop Demons?

This bug just started in recently…what’s happening?

When my computer boots up, the desktop appears fine - the standard turquoise blue background. The computer then goes through a Macafee Virus scan - still everything’s fine. The virus scan ends, and the mouse is about to change from an “hour glass” to the “arrow” pointer symbol. Just prior to this, the desktop changes to what I WAG is a “default” appearance? My PC is an IBM Aptiva, and I get a desktop pattern of the “IBM Aptiva” graphics in a lower resolution. Also, all the names beneathe my icons are funny-looking - they’re like outlined in white.

Can someone translate this error message box?
“An error has occured in the script of this page” Line: 38; Char: 3; error: object executed; Code: 0; URL: file//C:\windows\application data\microsoft\internet explorer\desktop.htt"

“Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? (Y/N)”

I click “yes” - just to finish the boot-up process. Not sure if “No” would stop the boot-up process or not…???

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
