Hello big problems here, I went to burn a dvd using a program called convertxtodvd have used this program dozens of times without problem. Today i’m getting an error message saying writer not found. The writer works fine. Now I open Itunes and it says itunes drivers not found please reinstall itunes. My question is What the hell is going on? I’ve done multiple virus scans and have come up with nothing
What OS? It does sound like there’s a driver that needs to be reinstalled for the writer. You can run windows update and that may help. Hit us back with your OS version and any other info and we can walk you through some possible solutions.
I am using windows 7 premium home. I went to the action center on my computer and for windows updates it says no action required
I had a similar problem a few months ago. I had to change the blu ray drive in my Vaio. After that, itunes could no longer find the drive. After a lot of digging through knowledge base articles, I came across something that said installing or updating drivers for media disc drives, or installing other programs that access the same drives sometimes corrupts the service that itunes uses to detect drives.
I didn’t feel like futzing around with it further so I just reinstalled itunes and that made everything all better. I know that’s probably not the solution you were looking for.
I was able to get itunes to work buy just ignoring the error message, but unfortunetly that doesn’t work for the burning of dvds using convertx
Possibly your computer is infested with malware, that is falsely reporting that you are missing drivers. If you ignore the spurious ‘error’ message, it still works. But if you click on the message, it tries to get you to go to a malicious website that will further infect your machine. The most common is a site that will try to get you to buy ‘repair’ software to fix this ‘problem’.
Some of this malware now even hides or renames drivers to trick you.
I’d suggest scanning your machine for malware.
I have scanned it with multiple programs nothing comes up
Go to Control Panel >> System and Security >> System. Then in the upper left corner, click on System Protection. Click on System Restore.
With a little luck, that will fix your problem.
will it erase or screw up anything?
It will undo changes you made to your system configuration since the last restore point (including updates), but it won’t delete your songs or anything.
Let’s start with the obvious. Does your drive appear in Windows Explorer? Can you eject it using Windows Explorer, read a DVD? Next, check that the cables in the PC are all properly seated and haven’t worked loose. Then check the Event Viewer. You want to look in the Application and System logs for anything with a red icon.
hmmmm the drive comes up on my computer but I popped in two different dvds and nothing happens, you can hear the dvd drive making all kinds of noises but no movie or box comes up on the screen
