Problem with iTunes

I recently got my hard drive swept after I got a nasty virus and had to reinstall everything. My computer seems to be working better than ever, except for iTunes.
Whenever I try to burn a disc, it says “disc burner or software not found.” It still imports music when I put a disc in there. And when I put a blank disc in, it recognizes it, because it’ll have the pop-up window that says “You have inserted a blank CD or DVD” with instruction on burning. And it’s not issue with my driver, because Windows Media Player will still burn discs.
I wouldn’t be so worried about it if I could transfer everything over to Windows Media Player, but a lot of old stuff I have on iTunes is DRM protected and won’t play on anything except iTunes.
I’ve heard that were some issues with the latest version of iTunes. Is anyone having this problem with it?
