I just bought a new Toshiba laptop literally an hour ago. It doesn’t have any sound and I can’t figure out why. I went the volume controls and it says that it’s not muted. I’m baffled. Any suggestions?
Did you try the volume adjustment on the side of the screen? Otherwise all I can suggest is to reinstall what’s on the CDROM.
Are you sure there is built in speakers.
Some ultra lights have no speakers and you need to plug in externals or Headphones.
You didn’t mention the OS.
Open the hidden icons.
There should be a volume slider in the task bar. Muted should be unchecked.
You so need to call tech support. There are some settings in the ‘Sounds and Multimedia’ section of the Control panel I would normally recommend looking at, and also making sure digital output is unchecked/checked as is required, but on a new PC none of that applies.
There should be either a volume dial or special function keys to alter the volume. If those don’t pan out, give Toshiba a call.
Also, have you made sure the correct speakers are selected on the sound control panel (I think under the audio tab)? I have a Toshiba laptop too and it offers me a choice of two different speakers, one of which isn’t even on my computer! After I played around with that for a while, I got the sound to work.
