Computer Q drive(Cd drive) ?

Is there a program that can repair the detector lense(that tells if the cd is there or not) on my computer’s cd drive or do I have to get it repaired at a computer store?

The cd drive detects the cd for a couple of second and then just stops detecting.

Just to be safe, reinstall all the relevant drivers and test it again before taking it to the repair guy.

But I’m betting it’s going to need physical repair/replacement.

But I also may not know what I am talking about.

There are “cleaner CDs” that go for around $7 - $10. that have a tiny brush and are designed to whisk off objects that may be occluding the lens. Half the time I’ve seen a problem like your’s the little cleaners help and half the time they don’t as the reading issues are not always lens related.

Anyway, with new CD-ROMs typically going for $ 30 - $50 (or less occasionally) “repair” is usually not a worthwhile option. T&R or “toss and replace” is the preferred service method.

The tech method is to get a can of compressed air & spray it into the drive door to clean the lens. I used to open the drive itself & manually clean it but that’s not practical anymore.

Also, make sure your cd you are putting in it is clean. Look at the back of it make sure its clean, absolutely clean. You can clean it under running water & pat dry, don’t rub.
