Computer Q Problems opening jpg/gif

Hi all,
I’m using Windows XP Service Pack 2

The problem:
Up until recently double clicking on a jpg/gif/bmp file in windows explorer caused the picture to be opened up in windows live gallery. This was exactly what I wanted.
For some reason now when I double click I get nuthin except the briefest flash of the eggtimer thingy.

I have gone ito folder options and made sure that the various extensions open with live gallery but this made no difference.
I can still open using right click - open with etc. But I am so used to just double clicking and it annoys me.

So folks I am seeking your vastly superior Doper knoweledge to to tell me why this has changed and how to make things go back to how they were.

Cheers

Bumpety bumpety

Somewhere else on the web I read a suggestion that downloading Picassa would help. It didn’t (though I think I quite like picassa)

I’m sure this has to have some ridiculously simple solution - I just can’t see it.

[Never mind. You know this much…]

If it already says that, there could be a problem with the program, or it’s just a glitch. If so, have you tried rebooting your computer?

Something is happening when you double click on it, and you need to find out what. I’d suggest opening Task Manager and watching to see what appears or starts using more CPU and/or memory when you’re seeing the flash and hourglass.

Go to Start, Run and type the following:

regsvr32 “%ProgramFiles%\Windows Live\Photo Gallery\PhotoViewerShim.dll”

and hit enter (there is a space after regsvr32).

WOOT!

Thanks heaps yoydyne you are a dead set legend.
