MGI Photo Suite v8.1 question

I recently installed MGI Photo Suite v8.1 on my computer. When installing, it had the question of “Which file types do you want to associate with MGI Photo Suite?” I figured I’d check the ones I use the most, JPEG, GIF, and BMP, so I did. I thought that question meant what file types do you want MGI Photo Suite to be compatible with, but thats not what it meant I guess. Now when I try to open a .jpg, .bmp etc picture, it opens in Photo suite and I don’t want it to. I uninstalled Photo Suite and it wouldn’t let me open the files at all. I Re-installed Photo Suite and didn’t check any of the file types. They still open in Photo Suite and have the Photo Suite icon. Before I installed it, they just opened in the browser window. Does anyone know how I can get it back to normal?

It’d probably be handy to know your operating system, but…

  1. Open Windows Explorer and locate a .jpg file.

  2. Hold down the shift key and right-click the file.

  3. Select “Open With…” from the menu that pops up.

  4. In the Open With diaglog box scroll through the programs until you come across “iexplore” or “Internet Explorer”. If neither of those are listed then click the Other button and browse to iexplore.exe.

  5. Check the box at the bottom that says “Always use this program to open this file” and then click OK.

Repeat 1-5 for each picture file extension (.gif, .bmp, etc.)

When I right-click on a file, it doesn’t say “open with”…

OK nevermind I got it! I had to uninstall Photo suite first.

Thanks! I know quite a bit about computers but I’m learning new things all the time!

Thank you for your help and your time, Horseflesh
