Hello all,
Last night I decided to download and install Mozilla Firefox, which I often hear is a safer browser to use than Internet Explorer. Well, I did all that and then selected Firefox as my default browser.
Some stuff happened, and not to get into my reasons now, but I just didn’t care for it. I don’t want this to turn into a Firefox vs. IE debate, but I’m just saying I uninstalled Firefox in order to switch back to IE. For the most part, this worked fine.
However, a few small odd changes have occurred. In Windows Explorer, where I save the individual HTML pages for my personal website, the icon in front of them changed from the familiar blue “e” symbol for IE to the Firefox icon. It wouldn’t let me open them because I had uninstalled it. I had to right-click and select “Open With IE,” and I made sure the box was checked for “Always use this program to open these files.” Now I can open those saved HTML pages with IE, but the icon is different again–a much smaller blue “e” in a while rectangle.
Similarly, in the URL window at the top of the screen, where most web addresses displayed a blue “e” icon, now there is the icon for a file of an unknown variety–does anyone know what I mean by this? A friend of mine is worried I’m still not back to normal, that I could still be running Mozilla Firefox instead of IE, even though I uninstalled it and even redownloaded and reinstalled IE 6.0. I’d appreciate any help, even though this doesn’t seem like a big deal. I thank you all in advance.
