Computer question: xinside.exe - is this a virus or not?

Computer geeks of the Dope, I need you.

I use Windows Vista. Yesterday, I found an .exe-file I didn’t recognize in the Control Panel menu where you determine what programs should run automatically or not. It’s called xinside.exe, lodged in the Raidtools folder apparently. It turned up on Google as a nasty Trojan virus.

This is what I’ve done so far: run Panda Antivirus, Spybot Search & Destroy and AdAware. None of these programs have identified the file as a threat. It doesn’t show up in the Raidtools folder (and Show hidden files is selected), only in the list of programs that are started automatically. I’ve tried removing it manually in the DOS prompt, but access is denied.

So - is this an actual virus or not? I know there’s a legitimate program with a similar name, but this specific name has turned up on Google searches as being bad stuff. If it’s a virus or malware, how do I remove it? Hlep!

‘the raidtools folder’ isn’t particularly informative. Are you running a RAID? If you Google ‘x36inside.exe raid’ you’ll see that it’s a valid part of some RAID drivers.

Thanks - I guess that answers my question, although I could have done without the snark. I didn’t get the same result list.
