I cannot find a driver for my Cannon laser jet printer. My old computer has the right drivers, can I remove those to a flash drive and install them on my newer computer?
Try searching for “Canon” drivers:)
If your old computer and new computer have different operating systems, then no, you can’t copy drivers from old to new. But you should be able to download the drivers you need from the manufacturer’s website: https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/product-finder/support-printers?cm_sp=CSO-_-SupportPFLandingGreyBar-_-printers
Once you download the file, it’s usually just a matter of running the installer, which should set everything up for you automatically.
CoastalMaineiac has the right idea. That said, what model number is the Canon and what OS is your new computer running? (And are you connecting via USB, Ethernet, wifi, smoke signals?)
The cannon is a mf4770m, I am connected wi fi. I have windows 10.
I will try the link that Coasta provided and see if it works
I hate to be the one to ask the obvious question, but have you tried just letting Windows find and install the driver?
Right click on the Windows icon in the lower left corner of the screen, select Settings, then Devices, then Printers and Scanners, then Add a Printer or Scanner.
That is usually the first thing I try it didn’t work here. I found the right driver at the cannon sight but the download won’t complete. I am wondering if it is my connection that is bad or too slow. Supposed to be a fast wireless connection. I might try running a cable tomorrow to the base and see if it helps.
Maybe Windows Update will get it for you. First install it as a generic printer by Windows Device Manager and then run Windows Update.
you may need to select your operating system but that should be the driver page
canon is apparently blocking the link
downloaded driver to my dropbox…should be downloadable via that link
I have the link in my download box it just doesn’t seem to take the download.
