I give up. I’d pit the stupid thing, but I lack the energy.
I have absolutely no idea where the disc that came with my printer 2 years ago is. So I go to the website to download the drivers I need. I follow the directions exactly, without the printer plugged into the computer I run the program, allowing everything it asks. Then it tells me to plug in the demnic device from hell, so I do and it happily tells me there are no drivers. So I tell it to search drive C [hafing only the single drive in the computer] and it still finds nothing. So I unplug the printer from hell and tell the program to finish with the plug and pray later option it helpfully offers. So I plug it in after the program finished, and it still cant find teh drivers. So I uninstall the drivers, reinstall and just go straight to the plug it in later option, plug it in after doing a computer restart. Still cant find a driver.
Does anybody have any idea where i can get the damned drivers that actually work? I can deal with ISOs if I have to to get the disc…I was thinking of pirate bay, or some other file sharing network but I dont have any torrent type programs and I would rather not load one as I dont like sharing access to my computers…
Otherwise, I will have to go out and buy a new printer
wincrap vista, picked the right OS, opted for the whole package not the stripped down one. Followed the directions exactly. There were no error messages when it was installing [other than once i followed the instructions and pluged in the printer and no drivers were found at all…I guess that is sort of an error message as the install obviously didnt work] and no matter where I searched using their little pop up do you want to search and where box.
I just want the damned driver, I know I didnt specify the HP website, but in general when I need something I go to the correct website to get it. I did get it from the HP webpage. I used their little in site search for the specific model and got a generic 4100 ‘series’ driver.
So, anybody actually happen to have the specific and correct driver or do i just toss it and buy a new printer?
