i am running this app called GoodAim and it acts as a proxy server for AIM so that when i connect to AIM i can rename the people on my buddy list. Something happened ten minutes ago and whenever i run goodaim and then try to connect to AIM with good aim, GA crashes and says “Runtime Error: Connection is in Use” and AIM won’t connect because the proxy server isnt up. So what does this mean? (*when i go into aim’s settings and change it to not use a proxy server, i can connect just fine, but i would like to use goodaim again) i have already tried restarting…and I’m windows…behind a router…but it worked perfectly before this THING happened…
did you uninstall and re-install GoodAim?
I haven’t done that simply because, I would lose all my Buddies that I renamed, which numbers in the 140s. I was hoping to get some help here before I did that.
bump
Well, uninstalling and reinstalling is probably the first thing to try. At the same time it is very possible that AOL broke GOODAIM so that it won’t work any longer. (#1)
I just downloaded and installed it and it doesn’t work for me so my bet is that AOL broke it.
Note, before anyone starts the “AOL is EVILLLLLL!” threads, AIM is an AOL service(Free at that) and they can block non-AOL clients from using the network if they wish. They own the standard and the hardware so they can block other clients.

#1. I worked in the NOC at AOL and blocking NON-AOL AIM clients was standard procedure.
