Computer Video question

I want to make an instructional video. Ideally, it would go back and forth between video of me talking (easily done with my laptop built-in camera) and live footage of me working with some Excel analyses on my screen. Ideally, I’d like to do it all real-time with one software tool.

Anyone have any suggestions for a software tool that can do this? Thanks!

Try Open Broadcasting Software. It’s designed for livestreaming, but you can use it to just save a local copy if you want. Put your webcam in one scene, put a screen region in a second scene, and set up hotkeys to switch back and forth.

I probably don’t understand what you want, but i’ve normally seen that done via editing. You film your on screen shots then record the excel shot and do the voice over and cut them together.

You could also get fancy and do some scenes with split screen or pic-in-pic.
