watchable when he is interviewing someone smart, then you get to see how smart they both are,
but otherwise his humor is too dumbed-down
and i would rather turn it off. Not looking forward to new skits going forward.
There is a place, its in my mind. And there’s no time… blang blang…
he time of writing “There’s a Place” and acknowledges its influence.[1] The “place” in question was “the mind”, making its subject matter slightly more cerebral than Britain’s kissing and cuddling songs and America’s surf music from that period.[2] Lennon is quoted as saying: ""There’s

i guess what I was hoping to discover
is anyone looking forward to more Conan o’brien skits when he is in primetime? i mean hopefully they hire a whole other comdeian to do half the show. thats how bad it is
Personally, I find Conan’s demeanor and mannerisms some of the most entertaining in the biz. He’s was born to take the stage, and although I haven’t watched his late night show in over a year, I’ll gladly keep him on if I accidentally stumble on his show while channel surfing.
I’m not a Conan fan so I would say that if the skits bother you that much, don’t watch the show. If, on the other hand, his interviews are good enough for you to tolerate the skits, either go do something else during the skits or TiVo/record the program and fast forward through the skits. Problem solved.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to have my knees removed.
Did you hire someone else to write the second half of your OP?
Anyway, if by “hire a whole other comedian” you mean “bring back Andy Richter,” I think it has possibilities.
(By the way, Conan isn’t going to primetime. He’s going to be on an hour earlier, and Leno is moving to primetime. Which is a whole nother discussion.)
Well, part of his job is to talk to celebrities, most of whom aren’t the sharpest tacks in the drawer. Should he be a smartass and make them look foolish? Or should he take them at their own level and try to do an entertaining segment? I think Conan is smart enough to realize that if he does the former, he will soon run out of guests. Give the guy a break. He is still one of the best at what he does.
Compared to Letterman, who is so goddamn tired and sad at this point he is painful to watch. One of my girlfriends loves him. She lives in NYC. So no wonder. He is doing a local show for a national audience. Guess what Dave? People in other parts of the country could give a damn about references to the Van Wyck expressway. It always gets a chuckle out of Paul, though.
I actually understood this post, scary as that may be. I get the reference to the Beatles song ‘There’s a Place’ - the lyrics were very simple because that’s what the public wanted at the time. Lennon and McCartney were capable of much more, as is Conan O’Brien.
