On a duty weapon or open carry I don’t want a safety. But on a pistol I’m carrying in a pocket or any other way the trigger guard isn’t covered, I want a safety.
The Siderlock works great and is simplicity at it’s finest just like the Glock.
It’s a little tricky but it can be installed by the consumer, no gunsmith needed.
My conceal carry pistol is a Bulgarian Makarov. It is Double action/single action.
It has a external safety on the slide. After cycling a round into the chamber, moving the safety up, moves the firing pin forward, decocks the hammer, and locks the slide, hammer and trigger.
Upon drawing and releasing the safety, the first pull is approx 8 pound pull, all after that are approx 4 pound pull.
I have never had an issue with the external safety. It all comes down to practice, I am able to draw, release the safety and aim all in a simple smooth motion.
Granted, I do have a few pistols I would never use for CC. my Tok is a great example, besides the 7.62x25 being an over penetrating round, the safety is not designed to be toggled easy.
