Condiment Udders? What say you!

I haven’t seen them either—a Reddit comment suggests they’ve been common in Sweden for a while, and maybe they’re more of a food truck sort of thing. As far as terms, Schneider’s version is just labeled as „Einhand-Dosierspender” but this imbiss supplier sells them as „Euterspender”—a term which has its own Wikipedia article dating back to 2012, so maybe we just don’t eat enough currywurst.

Probably, I’ve been a long time vegetarian and ate my last currywurst 30 years ago. But I like the alternative name given on wiki, “Saucenkuh”, which just means sauce cow.

Those aren’t condiment udders, these are condiment udders. And the rest of the cow as well.

Amazing! They even have a condiment sow, though I’ve heard that pig milk tastes horrible.

Two thousand. Three hundred. And fifty dollars.

You could get a couple of real cows for that, I guess. But none that gave ketchup or mustard.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen white mustard. Brown, yellow, purple, yes. Or are you talking the bottles? Or do you mean it’s not AS yellow as our turmeric spiked mustard? Still, I have a couple German and Polish mustards and they have yellow bottles, and the mustard is what I would call “yellow.” (Plus I lived and travelled in Europe for six years.) Like what brand can I get?

The bottle in the picture in the OP is white, the brand is Heinz, but when you look at the transparent “zit”, you can see that the actual mustard is yellow. I’ve never had Heinz mustard, but I’ve never seen German mustard that’s not yellow or brown, although the colors of the packings are all over the place, red, blue or green, depending on brand.

Yeah, I have a blue bottle somewhere in the fridge (Thomy) , and looks like a red Löwensenf. My main bottle is Bautz’ner, which is yellow plastic. So, yeah, all sorts of packaging.

Red Löwensenf is the hot variety, the mild one is green.

Extra sharp for me!

For me too! Best mustard I ever had and always in my fridge!

As for Thomy mustard: the sharp one also comes in red, and the mild one in blue. Also quite good, but not as good as Löwensenf.

I’ll look for it. My brother bought me a bunch of mustards and sausage for my birthday, and I’ve immensely enjoyed them all.

I was thinking closer to tan than white. There are quite a few European expats in my circle of friends and they universally deride the bright yellow American variety.

That’s for sure. I just checked the ingredients of my tube of Löwensenf, and it only contains vinegar, water, mustard seeds and salt. No artificial coloring or preservatives.

Even Gray Pupon isn’t gray.

The American type is sometimes/(often?) just colored with turmeric, so not artificial. French’s, for example, is only turmeric, and probably the exemplifier of American mustard.

Am I the only one who thought as a kid, the guy in the first Rolls was Earl Grey?

Probably? I never even heard of Earl Gray until Captain Picard kept ordering it, and that was years after the commercial.

It’s also named after one of the founders, Maurice Grey. Weirdly, I never thought of it as referencing the color gray, as it just seemed like someone’s name.
