Personally I like my porn condom free as it just looks a lot nicer, but in the gay world that means I am a defacto bareback lover. During the 80s and 90s all porn (and by that I mean 99.99%) of porn had condoms both for the protection of the actors and to promote safe sex.
Now that we’re in the naughty noughties condoms are seen as a bit :o in gay porn, and there is a big (and ever growing) market for porn that is condomless. This contrasts, interestingly, to straight porn where I’ve been informed often it’s nearly unheard of for there to be condoms involved.
So, do you have a view on whether there are condoms in your porn? And if so is it purely aesthetic or is there a moral imperative as well?
I like 'em, but then I have lots of nitpicky porn preferences. For example, I hate fake breasts. They distract me, make me think about what the actress’s life is like… in other words, kill my boner. As for condoms, if I were watching something made recently, the absence of one would make me think of AIDS and… you know the rest. I guess I wouldn’t care if the ‘stars’ were a real, exclusive couple. Really, though, it’s not like we’re watching the actors stop, open the package, put it on, etc. (though I do find that hot IRL).
I don’t mind seeing condoms in porn. In fact, it’s stupid when screwing somebody who screws for a living to go condomless. I’d like to see a scene where a guy comes inside her, and comes out with a condom full of jizz.
Of the porn that I watch, I prefer it to be condom-free as it is more aesthetically pleasing to me. A wrapped woody, while safer for all involved, is just not pleasing to look at.
At any rate, I’m not watching porn for any health-related or moral lessons. I’m watching it because it is far safer than one-night stands and other trashy hookups, which I know requi…no, demand a condom.
I do not see why actors and actresses should risk HIV and other serious illnesses to give me a little frisson of sexual pleasure, and I have a VERY low opinion of those who think it’s all right. Describing just how low my opinion of such people are would require the BBQ pit.
Porn Stars are half actors and half stuntmen to me. They act out the fantasies that I want to be acting out, or at least the fantasies that I fantasize about. As important as condoms are in real life, I don’t especially want reality in my porn.
That said, condoms aren’t a non-starter in my porn, a movie can be great with them. It’s not like staring at the point of impact is the only element that’s worthwhile afterall. However, if you are making a vanilla, romantic quasi-realistic coupling I might think condoms take you out of that fantasy.
I’d much rather see the expression on a guy’s face when he cums and/or get’s fucked than a cum shot or close-up of a dick plowing into his anus. Bareback just creeps me out (unless it’s vintage porn).
A major appeal to me is just how degrading it is to the woman, that she’s willing to engage in unprotected sex on camera for a little cash, get ejaculated inside, etc. The whole Lara Roxx thing is an example of what goes wrong here, but it’s the risk of just that that makes the whole thing so titillating.
I prefer gay porn to het, and watching bareback porn makes me feel vaguely uncomfortable. However, it’s pretty rare where I find most of my porn, and so it always seems wrong-in-the-hot-way when I do watch one. The “aesthetic” of a condom doesn’t bother me. I really barely notice it’s there.
Now, as for reading/writing porn, I would much rather not have to deal with condoms at all. They are, to put it mildly, a massive pain in the neck.
Bareback is a deal-breaker for me in real-people porn (as opposed to animated or other non-realistic) - I am totally squicked by the idea of casual sex sans protection, and porn is (to me) the ultimate in casual sex. If it doesn’t have protection involved, then I won’t pay money for it, and won’t watch it without some pressing reason to.
(Safe sex freak that I am, it bothers me a little that pretty much no non-medical-fetish porn uses gloves or dams, but I realize that the transmission risks are much less and I may be going a little overboard.)
I prefer it to make sense contextually. For orgy and random sex partner scenes I prefer the condom. For long term lovers having sex, or native in the jungle, condomless is best.
Don’t care either way. In fact, stop showing me closeups of the dudes schlong, nutsack and hairy ass. I just want to see the chick. I’m starting to think hetero porn is really made for gay males. If a guy is on top of a hot chick, giving her the high hard on, why are you showing it from the rear, with the focus on hairy ass/nutsack going up and down?
