Saw another on my lunch break. Mini-van this time.
I saw one displayed on a bumper sticker in Culpeper, Virginia yesterday.
The last time I saw one displayed it was flying proudly in front of a dilapidated trailer house in a small clearing in rural North Carolina. I think we were somewhere just southeast of Apex. That was about two years ago.
Having said that, I have to relate this story from my “I am always right because I’m college educated” days:
One of those itinerant flag-and-rug salesmen had set up shop in my hometown here in eastern Colorado, and to my shock and chagrin was flying the Colorado flag and the Confederate battle flag from the same flagpole. I parked my car, walked up to him (noticing the Georgia places on his truck) and informed him that, as a fourth-generation Colorado native, I did not appreciate my beloved state’s flag flying from the same mast as that symbol of oppression, racism and treason (hey, I was in my 20s!) He gave me a long, hard look, walked over to the flagpole, took down the Colorado flag, folded it and put it away. I left, even better educated than when I’d arrived.

- On a bikini, worn by a woman with bOObies that defy gravity
- St. Maarten
If it was on a bikini, you must have had to look very closely to identify it; I won’t be crass enough to assume you were looking at the gravity defying boobies. Are you sure you weren’t seeing stars after she clouted you?

A veritable judgment of Solomon.
Well, this thread has had 214 views up to now, with 24 people (approximately 11%) reporting sightings. I have to admit that is more sightings than I expected; I had also expected a wider geographical spread. Interesting.
Keep those cards and letters coming.
- Memorial Day weekend
- Decal on the window of a gas station
- Indian reservation in Western New York
I would add that the window had a lot of decals, and the Confederate flag decal wasn’t given any special placement, I just happened to notice it while I was paying for gas. The other decal I remember was the Don’t Tread on Me flag.
1.0 Most weekdays including today
2.0 License plates and window stickers in a trade school parking lot I walk through during my lunch break.
3.0 Boston, MA area. There are a decent number of them in New Hampshire too.
“Rockabillies” (rock+hillbilly) is how these types are generally referred to in these parts.
Last time I saw the flag was three weeks ago, at Stone Mountain (GA) where they have a display of the various flags of the Confederacy on poles at the base of the mountain.
A few days before that, saw one on a bumper sticker on I-75.
It is unusual enough that it provokes a double-take when you see one.

I am one of those 214 views. I think 11% sightings may be low. I didn’t respond at first because it’s difficult to answer.

Anytime I go into any of several local towns in South Alabama.

Most often one of those truck rear window blind things, sometimes bumperstickers, dixie outfitter clothing (even their icon is a rebel flag), caps, fronts of transfer truck radiators, mud flaps, people’s yards (not very often though).

Dothan, Enterprise, Troy, Ozark, Opp.
In all fairness most people do not sport the confederate flag, but it is quite common.
I can’t remember the last time I saw one other than in a picture.

Back window of a pickup truck.
Green Bay, WI
Technically, I saw one on the roof of my General Lee last weekend. I don’t know if I can count that. I could go look at it right now, or pull out of the garage and into public.

I know this isn’t going the way the OP expected, but let me answer in complete honesty -

The last time I saw the flag in my area was about three years ago.
-
It was on a flagpole mounted in the bed of a pickup truck in the local grocery store. The pickup was jacked up with huge tires and was populated by such stereotypical rednecks that I thought it was part of a movie or some kind of joke.
I never see that kind of stuff here, ever.

May 13, 2008, last time I was home in SW Montana. On Mr. Fuji’s bumper, which is the same place it’s always been. The only place I have ever seen one, except for TV.
Mr Fuji is probably not named Fuji. He is in town from March to July at random intervals, no one claims to have ever spoken to him. It is possible that no one would recognize him when he wasn’t in a very distinctive purple Chevy Luv with a bad painting of Mt Fuji on the tailgate, and an amazing variety of bumper and window stickers. It’s entirely possible that Mr Fuji is a woman with very short hair. We locals have decided that they aren’t statements so much as structural support.
It’s possible that a lot of the “views” also have really boring stories.
During an extended visit to the US some years ago I passed through at least half a dozen southern states and I don’t recall seeing even one instance of the confederate flag being flown anywhere.
On one occasion I thought I spotted one but on closer inspection it turned out to be a Cuban flag.
