Several people on these boards have repeatedly pointed out that the flag which arouses so much ire is NOT the flag of the Confederate States but people continue to call it that.
As of now, we have had 563 views of this thread with only 39 people posting which brings the average of the sightings down to approximately 7% and that is more on the order of what I expected.

I’m fairly sure that the confederate flag is used to signify flame-grilled burgers and the like here on packaging. I must see if I can find an example at the store and scan it.
Some of my answers are vague. #1. I don’t remember exactly when the last time I saw one was. They’re not exactly common around Little Rock but seeing one isn’t exactly shocking either.
#2. Usually I see them on the back of trucks but between Sheridan and Little Rock there is a house with a flag on display in the window. I also see them a lot at those little roadside stands selling things like flags, shirts, and hats.
That’s an absolutely meaningless statistic. I’ve viewed this thread probably four times but haven’t been arsed to respond until now. If I view it again to see if you respond, that’ll be another view.

Yes, I’ve been pondering that very thing for the last hour or so. I was hoping to get some sort of idea as to ubiquitousness of that damned flag but I guess this is far from the best way to proceed.
So, this was a flop and a mod should shut it down.
The last one that sticks out for me is when I was in college, one of the dorms on campus, someone had a Confederate flag displayed in his dorm room window on the second floor. What made this entertaining, was that on the third floor, the room immediately above this guy’s had the Union Jack displayed.
Summarizing the thread, it’s no surprise - The flags aren’t ubiquitous, but they’re hardly rare. They are seen far more often in the south than elsewhere.
Pretty much what everyone knows, except for a few denialists here on the SDMB.
Why is it a flop? Because you were trying to prove some point?
I don’t see the thread as a flop. I find it interesting. As you’ve already discovered, you aren’t going to be able to determine ubiquitousness or make *anything *out of the view/reply ratio. I mean, I see the flag somewhat regularly (I’m in Virginia) but I wasn’t really compelled to answer b/c for most threads I’m content to lurk unless I’ve got something particularly interesting or insightful to add.
I don’t think anyone denies that the flag is seen almost everywhere in the USA. I mistakenly thought I might be able to actually get a sense of where it is most often displayed, but I chose a very imprecise method of doing so.
Just out of curiosity, what method have you used in determining that the flag is seen “far more often in the south than elsewhere.”
I used to have a 1969 Dodge Charger, painted up like the General Lee from Dukes of Hazzard.
So of course, it had one painted on the roof.
Still miss that car.
