Congrats to Stephanie Terry (Democrat), Evansville's first Black / woman mayor!

I voted for the first time for mayor since moving to Evansville in 2022, and the news is… awesome! I still don’t know a whole lot about local politics, though looking at a list of mayors shows that both Republicans and Democrats have won over the past few decades (List of mayors in Evansville, Indiana - Wikipedia).

I haven’t see much reporting on Terry, but she will be the first Black mayor of the city and the first woman. Wikipedia says that Evansville is 12.6% African-American (Evansville, Indiana - Wikipedia), which says to me that, insofar as racism and sexism were factors in the election, they were weak ones.

Meanwhile, just over the river, Democrat Andy Beshear has been reelected governor of Kentucky. Both of these races seem to be good signs for us Democrats going into 2024.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Thank you for voting. We need more people like you coming out on election days to follow.

Awesome!

Well, howdy, neighbor!

I grew up in Southern Indiana, about two hours away from Evansville. Been there many times.

As a liberal living in Kentucky, I’m ecstatic that Beshear won reelection. Anything to stop the Republicans from fulfilling their agenda.

Absolutely, my friend!
