I think she might be a true believer. What’s really scary to me is she sounds like a sane person sometimes. In her video, she was describing some of the problems Americans face including being told to go to college so they get good jobs only to graduate with crippling debt and few prospects.
She’s actually become a little more reasonable than many of her colleagues, and I shudder to think who will take her place who will be even worse.
The comparison I’ve made before is that she was an adult wrestling fan who still thought wrestling was real, then she went behind the arena after the show looking for autographs and caught Macho Man and Jake the Snake smoking a joint together. She ran for office because she legitimately believed Donald Trump was working behind the scenes to expose an elite cabal of Satanic pedophiles and the rest of the Republican party had his back. Now she’s learned that the cabal she was fighting doesn’t exist, her fellow Republicans were just playing marks like her for their votes and money, and the cabal that does exist counts Trump as a member and the Republican party is OK with that.
If there were ever a time and place for the cliched “I didn’t expect the leopards to eat my face” it is here and now.
The only surprise is the eatee.
I will never cease failing to understand this. I understand that some people aren’t real bright or are near-toxically optimistic.
But the guy throws each of his supporters under the bus like clockwork, invariably, publicly, no matter how loyal they were, no matter how much he once claimed to love them - it’s practically his personal brand. Then these people not only join the queue to go under the wheels but actually seem surprised as he tosses them bus-wards.
I just can’t get my head around it.
I assume that was dripping with sarcasm. MTG is miles away from anything considered centrist.
Stae senator from MTG’s district, and likely candidate for her seat.
I’ve heard of a shotgun wedding and understand the meaning, but what is a Tommy Gun wedding?
Stalin managed something similar and on a much grander scale.
I think each one of them thinks they are the exception to the rule. They probably also think they are smarter than Trump and will be able to outmanoeuvre him. But it’s hard to outrun even a slow train when you are tied to the tracks.
Is there any hope for a Democrat to be competitive here or is this area solid red?
I have no idea but moonshine has to be involved somehow.
Good riddance.
Cute of her to pick January 5th as her last day. One can only hope that she doesn’t find a future as a talking head on a right-wing news channel.
They love MTG in her district. 'Nuff said.
I’m guessing that’s his sister.
Keep it in the family!
That’s when her congressional pension vests. She’s just cashing out. There’s no great conspiracy here.
Hey, ekedolphin, your OP was prophetic. Her resignation must be your doing, and I thank you. Can you now start a thread demanding that a certain other politician must go? It couldn’t hurt.
Yeah. I think that a belief that they are special is almost innate to the right wing worldview, part of their belief in hierarchy and privilege. But that attitude bites them in the butt in situations like this, when they convince themselves they have a privileged status that doesn’t exist.
Given how much water Cenk Uygur is currently carrying for her and how upset he is that she’s leaving, I’m half expecting her to land a job at TYT.
I challenge @RepMTG to a debate on …whether she should stay or leave Congress. I’ll take the side that she should stay. Any time, any place, Marge
That doesn’t even make sense. She already quit, why would she accept a challenge that, if she loses, she’d “have” to stay?
It’s like if someone wants something that I have so they suggest some type of challenge where the winner gets it. Why would I do that, I already have it?
Has any Congressman ever resigned only because of a public dispute with a President?
This seems like a bizarre new level of politics.
Representatives in the House are supposed to be focused on working with each other and developing legislation. They certainly aren’t basing their tenure on relations with the sitting President.
Only the Majority Leader, Whip, and Minority Leader should be direct liaisons to the President.
I know Green is erratic and unpredictable. But WTH?
Anyway, I hope the door doesn’t hit Green on the ass on the way out. Good riddance.
