It only takes nine votes for a motion to vacate, and she already ran one Speaker out of Congress, so if she could find eight other Republicans who are as sick of Mr. “I haven’t heard about that” as the rest of us are, it could happen. Presumably all 213 Democrats would vote to remove him, so if there are enough Republicans willing to force the vote in the first place, then it would succeed.
Honestly I very confused by Marjorie’s actions lately.
It almost seems she had an actual realization, Trump is not on the side of the working folks she knows (seeming health coverage, is the sticking point).
As we say in the south - well bless her heart (mostly mean, but a little bit sincere)
But if true, what good does resigning do? Living near that district, it could easily go even more weird.
Given any new insight on her part, wouldn’t remaining in congress been more impactful.

It’s one thing when you’re provoking death threats and another thing to be on the receiving end of them.
And hence why it is so curious, she bucked up.
She could have easily completed her term, and put her name on fine used car dealership - or something similar.
Seems she is either a convert at some level, or is hoping game the MAGA cult.

My WAG is that she was a True Believer who found out that the Republican establishment doesn’t actually believe the stuff she believed about Jewish space lasers and fake school shootings with crisis actors and Democrats harvesting children for adrenochrome, but are just using people like her to get what they really want, which is to rewrite the law for the benefit of the billionaire donor class.
The metaphor I’ve used several times is that she’s the equivalent of an ‘80s wrestling fan who thought wrestling was real, then went around the back of the arena after the show hoping to get some autographs and caught Hacksaw Jim Duggan sharing a joint with the Iron Sheik.

I do find it hard to believe she would be that naive, but it does seems to be the simplest answer.

And to make the point, things may often be a bit obtuse.
WRT that…on the assumption that nothing actually becomes of these death threats, I have zero problem with her being in fear for her life for a little while. She spent enough time being in a position that allowed her, with little more than hand gesture towards a vaguely defined group of people, put those people in very real danger. And again, with the assumption that no harm is brought to her, I’m okay with her getting some first hand experience as to what it’s like to be on the receiving end of that kind of rhetoric.
She wants to run for president. She’s putting some distance between her and Trump to do it. She’s going to run the most nativist, racist, America First campaign y’all have ever seen.
And if that doesn’t work, she’ll link arms with her cross-horshoe-buddies and become a host on The Young Turks.
Like many others, I think MTG was a true believer who grew disillusioned with the MAGA movement both personally and philosophically. On a personal level, she put a lot of effort into supporting Trump and MAGA and fairly recently came to the realization they weren’t interested in supporting her. MTG functioned as a MAGA cheerleader, which was fine, but Trump wasn’t going to endorse her senate run and nobody was interested in seeing her move into leadership positions within the House. They were happy to have her maintain her seat in the House simply because she could reliably vote how they wanted. Philosophically, she finally had to accept Trump didn’t give a damned about anything but Trump.
Make no mistake, MTG is still the same person she was before. She hasn’t seen the proverbial light. She’s still a snake.
Why stay? She can’t really do much of anything. She’s got no friends in the House with MAGA, Trump, and the Democrats being hostile towards her, and she’s just going to be primaried soon anyway. Her only notable accomplishment as a politician has been as a MAGA blowhard. That particular relationship has be severed and she’s got nothing left to offer. And whatever she does have to offer nobody wants.
