Connecting my DVD player to my soundbar

I’m trying to connect my DVD player to my soundbar. The DVD player has an HDMI out, but that goes to the projector. The only other output from the player is digital coax.

My soundbar, however, doesn’t have a digital coax in. It has a standard headphone jack input, a pair of AV sound inputs, and a digital optical input.

What’s the best way of connecting the two?

Does the projector have a optical or analog audio out?

If not, you’ll need an interface to change the coax to optical, or coax to analog. Something like this.

This is the one that I purchased, but there are cheaper units on Amazon that do the same thing.

My soundbar has HDMI in and HDMI out. It can be connected in line so to speak between your DVD or BR player and the projector.

I bought one of these from Amazon with some associated cables, hopefully it’ll do what I want.

If it’s something anyone needs to do themselves, bear in mind that the connections are not reversible on these things - a coax-optical converter is different to an optical-coax converter.
