Connery or Moore, et al appearing in a Bond movie as someone other than 007?

Would you find it amusing to see Connery, Brosnan, Dalton, Lazenby or Moore do a cameo in a Bond film as a character other than 007? As M, for example, or as a villain?

Connery playing James Bond’s father, grandfather or Uncle might be fun. Moore might make an interesting Q. Dalton as a stiff lifeless body with no ability to act, oh wait that was already done.
It is too soon for Brosnan and Lazenby might not be recognized by most moviegoers.

In an unrelated note, is there any truth to the statement that whoever is the current James Bond is forbidden from appearing in any non-Bond film in a tuxedo?

Pierce Brosnan wore a tuxedo to the black and white ball in The Thomas Crown Affair between appearances in Bond movies.

George Lazenby had a cameo in the TV movie The Return of the Man from U.N.C.L.E.. His character was unnamed, but he drove an Aston-Martin, wore a tux and, well, you get the idea. They just couldn’t use the name. It was interesting, because Roger Moore had recently made Octopussy and Connery had appeared as Bond in Never Say Never Again, so within about a year you had all three Bonds playing Bond. (The less said about the guys from both prior versions of Casino Royale, the better)

I don;t think any Bonds have ever re-appeared in the series, but it’s interesting that quite a few Bond alumni showed up in the atrocious film Operation Kid Brother (AKA lots of other titles, and it showed up on MST3K), including “M”, Miss Moneypenny, and Emilio Largo. And Ursula Andress (“Honeychile Ryder” from Dr. No) appeared in “Casino Royale”.

I read just today that Moore recently turned 78, which was a bit of a shock. I didn’t realize he was that old.

Hey, Connery is 76 and Eastwood is 76 as well.
It’s amusing to think that Connery was replaced with a “new Bond” who was actually older than the original.
Dalton was actually the 2nd oldest to take on the part(43), with Brosnan coming in third (42) and Lazenby being the youngest (30). Connery was 32 and Moore the oldest. He was 46 when he did Live and Let die.

Woody Allen made the most interesting James Bond of the lot of em.

You somehow accidentally switched the names “Moore” and “Dalton.”
You might want to ask a mod to fix that for you.

I wasn’t a big fan of Moore, but did you really think **Dalton ** was better?
I found **Dalton ** lifeless and he could not convince me to suspend my belief to enjoy the character that is Bond. My problems with **Moore ** were not lifelessness, but he played it the character too much for humor. I still think **Connery ** is Bond and all others are pretenders but **Brosnan ** pulled off the character with the right mix and did a credible job. **Lazenby ** was okay, but that was far from my favorite movie.

Semi-hijack

I’ve decided to re-read some of the Bond books.

Perhaps I’ve been too harsh on how they’ve aged.

I think Dalton, an excellent actor (watch The Lion in Winter) was better than either Moore or Brosnan. Brosnan often had trouble carrying off the serious scenes, or projecting Band’s badass side.
Of course, I also think Lazenby made a better Bond than Moore.
