How could someone be skeptical of a logical enough idea, and yet blindly profess to believing something nonsensical?
Example: Carbon emissions into the atmosphere most likely will affect our climate. Logical enough, right? But, for the most part, the people who are skeptical of this, proudly believe that Jesus was crucified, died, and rose from the dead. Then, body and all, ascended into “Heaven”.

What I don’t get is even for people who don’t think that humans influence global warming, don’t they understand that besides global warming there are all kinds of negative impacts from pollution? The anti global warming crowd pretty much have to adopt a pro-pollution stance and I just don’t understand it.
Believing in Anthropogenic Global Warming is ridiculous, it’s like believing in evolution.

Neither of those things* necessarily* indicate a lack of critical thinking skills. Being a freemason can help one advance socially and professionally, so one can be a member & not take it seriously, and there are ways to use the tarot that don’t involve mysticism at all. Of course, I don’t know your relative, so I’m just making a general point here, not defending him specifically.

My confusion comes in the title of the OP. “Conservative” beliefs = believes in the zombie Jesus? Is “conservative” used as a broad brush political swipe? or a broad brush religious swipe? CUz I have not seen the word “conservative” used to mean Christian before. They are not mutually inclusive as far as I knew.
For the same reasons that people think we can have government welfare programs, government health services, government “bailouts”- Yet not lose any privacy, freedoms, or become a country of people unwilling to work.
