Maybe also mentioning one’s state of residence would be interesting? It certainly could add potentially important context.
Florida for me.
You know, I completely misunderstood how the electoral college worked in our state until this thread. I had thought whichever President-Vice President ticket won the most counties got all the electors.
Boy, was I wrong on that one - your post prompted me to double check. Whichever ticket wins the most individual votes statewide gets all the electors. Thank you, adaher.

I don’t consider myself a Trump supporter but somehow the other options still seem worse. My Andrew-Yang-supporting liberal son told me he didn’t know who to vote for because he genuinely believes Biden is senile. I don’t disagree.
I’m generally considered a conservative on this board, so I might as well answer. I’ll be voting for Biden almost for sure at this point. Anyone but Trump. I want to see how Biden runs and who he selects as his VP, but I don’t see anything he could do at this point short of going full progressive that would have me vote for a 3rd party because I can’t hold my nose long enough to vote Trump out.
I’m a dyed-in-the-wool conservative (but not a Republican) and I’ll definitely be voting for President Trump again. I realize that he is not a conservative in many areas, but I believe he is what the country needs right now. He’s strong medicine, and tastes bitter going down, but the country is really sick and needs a cure.
True. How important is Ohio?
Under current Florida law, yes.
If your GOP legislature is asked by their party’s national leadership to change it, on grounds that Biden somehow cheated, the law could change.
Could they really get away with changing the rules after election day? We may find out.
I’m only ‘conservative’ here. But I’m voting Trump, mostly because Biden is terrible.
In California, so it won’t help him anyway.
So to be clear, you see the sickness in this country as something that Trump has the cure for? If everyone would just listen to him and do what he says, we’d all be better off, right?
Moderate. I’ll vote for Biden if he doesn’t come off to be more senile in the next few months. If so, I’ll vote Libertarian.
Ohio- Biden. Not my first choice, but Trump needs to go.
hmm. Sounds like those who voted for Trump in 2016 only because Hillary was so terrible. Is there any Democrat you don’t find so terrible that it would tip the balance away from Trump?
Colorado
I’m voting for Biden. If he goes crazy leftward I’ll also vote for Cory Gardener.
Do tell. He promised to bar all Muslims from entering the US; what problem would that solve. He’s kidnapped children and put them in concentration camps with no plans whatsoever about what to do next. What problem does this solve that granting them and their parents citizenship - or even amnesty - would not? I understand his approach to trade with China has left crops rotting in fields and silos; why is this good? He’s pulled the plug on environmental regulations pretty much across the board. We know this will result in the US being pretty gross because why that’s why these rules were put in place in the first place. Why does the US need to be gross.
Your claim that Trump policies are good and necessary is not supported by any evidence or facts. The best that can be said is that his failure may lead to the destruction of the global menace that is the American right. Fingers crossed!
Texas. Although I consider myself liberal leaning today, my voting history is:
1980 Reagan
1984 Reagan
1988 Bush
1992 Bush
1996 Dole
2000 Bush
2004 Bush
2008 McCain
2012 Obama
2016 Gary Johnson - No way in hell I wanted Trump. Wasn’t a fan of Clinton either. Didn’t really matter being in Texas.
2020 Straight Democrat Ticket
I’ve been a registered Republican for most of my life. I didn’t vote for Obama in either election and John McCain might be my favorite candidate of all time. I’m more conservative than 90% of Dopers but I’m a moderate; I didn’t vote for GWB in either of his elections.
But I’ve been so disgusted with Republicans for giving Trump a pass that I’ve changed to independent. I’m in the George Will camp of “throw the bums out”. It was easy to vote for Hillary and it’ll be even easier to vote for Biden. I’m glad I wasn’t given the option of Trump or Bernie; Mickey Mouse might have gotten my write-in vote.
Be warned, though; I haven’t voted for a winning candidate since '92 (which I now regret). You might prefer I vote for Trump.
Despite planning to vote third party, though, I wouldn’t mind either outcome (D or R.)
If Trump wins, it would be another upset victory, like watching Appalachian State beat Michigan, but twice. And it could mean more conservative judges.
If Biden wins, we get a mature, competent, sensible man in the Oval Office again, and a major restoration of American reputation and governance. A return to normalcy and much less stress/worry.
Being Canadian, I can’t vote there. If I could, it would greatly depend on Biden’s running mate, as I think Joe has maybe a 50/50 chance of finishing a term, or if he does, he might defer to the Vice President to do a lot of the heavy lifting.
If Biden picks a moderate running mate, I could be convinced to vote for him. If he picked Condi Rice as some are suggesting, I’d vote for him enthusiastically. If he picks a typical progressive, I’d write in ‘Hector Comacho’, as at least he’d be entertaining. If Biden picks Elizabeth Warren, I’d hold my nose and vote Trump because it would be the best way to keep that obnoxious, power hungry woman as far from the levers of executive power as possible.
He won’t pick Condi Rice. She’s a Republican. The person he is considering is Susan Rice.
